Restrictions on 3000/4000 Level Business Courses

Unrestricted enrollment in 3000/4000 level courses in the Walker College of Business is limited to business majors* admitted to the College of Business.

Limit of FIVE (5) 3000/4000 level business courses: Students not admitted to the College of Business, both business majors and non business majors, may take a maximum of five business courses at the 3000/4000 level (*unless more are required by a non-business major, a concentration, or a minor).

Prerequisites for 3000 level and 4000 level business courses, in addition to course specific prerequisites, are as follows:

  1. minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  2. 57 earned hours to take FIN 3680, MGT 3630, MKT 3050, and POM 3650
  3. 60 earned hours for other 3000 level business courses
  4. 90 earned hours and a minimum grade of "C" in ENG 3100 or BE 3340 for 4000 level business courses.

Business majors are encouraged to complete all admission requirements by the beginning of the junior year. Students who are not admitted to the College of Business will not be allowed to early register for more than five 3000/4000 level business courses, even if they anticipate that they will be admitted to the College of Business by the beginning of the next semester.

*Non-business majors must get a permit from the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Office to register for any required 3000/4000 level business course in excess of the five allowed or for any 4000 level business course if ENG 3100 or BE 3340 have not been taken (these are waived for non-business majors since each major has its own Writing in the Discipline requirement).

New transfer students will need permits to early register for 3000/4000 level business courses during their first Early Registration cycle since they have no established GPA at that time (the registration system is looking for a 2.0). A minimum GPA of 2.0 must be earned in order to stay in any 3000/4000 level courses for which the student was allowed to early register.
